Client: The North Carolina Leadership Academy – Middle School Location: Kernersville, NC Size: 17,680 SF Services: Architecture, Planning Completion: 2019

The North Carolina Leadership Academy is a charter school located in Kernersville, North Carolina. The school’s mission is to develop students’ leadership skills, intellectual skills, and physical ability.  The Middle School facility was the second phase of the school as it continued to grow.

It was important to create spaces for students to learn and thrive through class instruction, and social interaction.

The front of the building features a gathering space with large windows for natural lighting and structural elements. The classroom hallway is a vaulted open space with clerestory windows that makes the space feel larger. The exterior of the building features a mix of bricks and metal canopies above the windows for additional sun protection.
